Chomping good times
Met the St. Gallen people for the first time since we all got back from our respective Europeean escapades. And very aptly, with a food bash to quell the past 2 months of sandwiches, pasta and cheese.
Kenneth's got such long hair, which makes him look like a monkey. (though he insists he looks like Ace Ventura) Huiqi's got the citibank employee look nailed. Eunice has a new sprayed-fringe haircut. Amy's got very very short fringe. Daniel's put back the weight he lost since the last time we met him touring in London, presumably cos he can afford more booze back home? Shihui has morphed into an aunty. No changes to Victor and Melissa.
First stop was to ChompChomp.Which has sadly, lost its gastronomic touch. Very disappointing chewy satay and hokkien mee that tasted like fried beehoon. I still love the
giant mugs of sugarcane though!
Thomson Prata House next. I think this beats Jalan Kayu's anytime now. Had a paper prata and half a milo dino all to myself. I think out of all the local food, I missed prata the most while I was gone.
Then to Geylang Lorong 9 for tauhuey and youtiao. I didn't have those though. I had THREE pieces of shaobing all by myself- big pockets of flaky sesame pastry with a porkfloss-omelette filling.
The diet can always start tomorrow.
It was nice swapping stories and horrific travel accounts. Sleeping in railway stations overnight. Kenneth's side-splitting ziploc bag story, so much for answering the BIG call of nature spontaenously. More tales of a certain individual who refused to brush his teeth in the morning. French-bashing moments. Booking plane seats for May instead of June. Minute toilets. Sex shows. Cannabis lollies and magic mushrooms. Absinthe! Huiqi's drunken escapades. Haha :)
