Hello stranger
I receive weird messages from complete strangers on Friendster all the time, just like everyone else. But there are some that really take the cake. Really, I mean, I'm not the sort of person who sieves through another person's friendster list to look for new people to get into contact with. It's just so IRC-esque. (And we are waayyyy past that era, my 'friend') That means I would never let someone get to know me this way. Neither would any of my friends. Screen-to-screen just doesn't do it for most people, yes?
Take this message I just received:
"Good Morning
I am terence
i am new here
I would like introduce my esteemed self to you
I would like to share with you
All my interest with you
I love these stuff and activities : 1) Movies 2) Arts 3) Architecture 4) Photography 5) Design 6) Sports 7) Mobile Technology 8) Travel
Kindly contact me at 9XXXXXXX and we can share the above togather
If the above are not do not interest you, kindly call me and lets talk about your interest pls
Thank you and Best Regards
Terence"
No, I have not edited the grammar, and this isn't the worst one I've received. At least this one is free from 'worxxx' and 'lolx' and 'heeheex'. I don't mean to sound elitist here, but I really am anal about spelling and using proper english. Andrea would understand!
And 'esteemed self'?! This ain't some application to be a knight of the round table dude. And does he think that girls (I assume such a message would only be sent to members of the opposite sex) would actually call him and talk to him based on eight written points about himself?
And last week I got some message from a guy called Shin, who addressed me as 'Cel'. Heck! Only Syl and some of my good friends call me that- honestly, him taking my name in a form of endearment kinda irked me out.
